I was going to give you a simple, tasty, recipe, but I just called my best friends Steve and Cathy and have to fill you in on their predicament. They were returning from Savannah Georgia, after spending a birthday weekend with their son. Upon returning, they stopped in Jacksonville Florida, to pick up some construction material for a friend. When they stopped to deliver the material, their truck began to fall in a sink hole. At this point they are struggling to jack it out. I suggested that they try to tow it out. I've got a brilliant idea, CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, they will respond to any situation. I just called Steve and told him my brilliant idea. His response: "That's a great idea". But knowing Steve, he will try to get it out himself. He will probably succeed, but will end up with a bad back, hernia, dislocated shoulder, nose bleed, tooth ache and an attitude that would make Hannibal Lecture look like Bozo the Clown. In any event, my point is this: These two wonderful people were doing good deeds for family and friends. How were they rewarded? Their vehicle being engulfed in a sink hole. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse. How do you justify this? You don't - Its life and its not fair. Of course nobody said it was fair. UPDATE Steve just called. He got it out. Built some kind of support and bridge and drove it out. Steve used all of his Fire Department experience and overcame the situation. Creativity and resilience are what firefighters about. Steve is certainly creative and resilient and has the patience of a saint. I on the other hand would have looked at the sinking truck, spewed a list of 4 letter words that would have made sailors blush, called a cab, got dropped off at the nearest gin mill and proceed to get drunk as a skunk. I would have returned the next day and figured it out. I think that's why we make a great team. We are completely different, but understand what makes the other one tick. Great Job Steve. Tasty, simple recipe that the whole family will love coming in the next blog.
Heroes in the House is coming to you soon. Keep your eye out for resilient Steve and
crazy Pete.
Be Safe
